Michael Agnew's IssueActive Workshops

IssueActive Workshops take the process of Intervention Theatre farther than is possible in a 90-minute performance. What makes these workshops unique is that the participants themselves determine the content. Led by GTC Director, Michael Agnew, students participate in a series of fun, theatre-based games and exercises. These activities create a trusting and energetic bond that allows students to identify the issues that are important to them and share their own real-life experiences in confronting them. Through role-playing, participants collectively analyze these experiences and actively test new approaches to solving the problems revealed in the process. What results is a deeper understanding by students of the issues that effect them and an appreciation of their own role in creating solutions.

Workshops are an ideal follow-up to GTC's theatrical programs or they can stand alone as part of campus theme programs, new student orientation, or training/development seminars for students, peer educators, and staff. IssueActive Workshops can accommodate up to 50 participants. Longer workshops culminate in a Forum presentation of scenes created by the participants. Pre-planned IssueActive Workshops are available on a variety of topics. Customized workshops can be designed to deal with any issue.
